T.M.I. or Connectivity? April 6, 2008
So I’m just wondering what draws a blog reader to subscribe to a particular blog. I’ve read posts that were generalized topics with questions attached…..a la….What do you think about this or that. I’ve also read blogs that are just the bloggers opinion or rant on a particular subject. You have those specialized blogs from people who know how to do something cool, and then there are those blogs where people just document their daily dealings.
I wonder if there is a general preference or if it is just what an individual person is into. As for me, I am subscribed to a little of each type of blog above so I am no help to my own research. lol
I want to write a blog that keeps people coming back for more. I have juicy things that I can talk about from my personal life, but I find myself using the backspace button a lot because it gets to the point where I feel like I’m putting T.oo M.uch I.nformation into the cyber vortex.
Maybe I’ll start doing like teenagers do and begin my blogs with “well, I have this friend…”

*mouth open ….long pause* I just …. can’t … wow…. unbelieveable.
This is my reaction to a Dateline MSNBC story I watched last night called Children for Sale by Chris Hansen. This my friends, is freakin disturbing. Words escape me because I can barely express how horribly sad this is for those children. Basically, there are certain areas in Cambodia (smuggled in from Vietnam & China) that young girls, as young as 5 years old are pimped out as prostitutes. P-R-O-S-T-I-T-U-T-E-S!! Their families are so poor that some of the mothers and/or fathers sell them to these brothels. In turn, these young girls are bound by contract to repay the debt plus expenses of being cared for. Cared for being… beatings, little food and being taken for days at a time by strangers looking to get their jollies off.
The Cambodian government is fully aware of this issue and it is supposedly a top priority for them to rescue these girls, but in the meantime, THOUSANDS of little girls are being raped and forced to pleasure strange men. I don’t have little girls, but I sit back and look at my two young sons and think about the terror they would feel being kidnapped, beaten and forced to use their bodies as objects for sale. I imagine these young girls wonder what they did wrong or if this is normal. I wonder what I can do to help them. I know there’s not much I can do on this side of the planet. How bleak. I search the internet for any way I can help and come across this site, Hagar USA, a subsidiary of Hagar International. Their mission, “ We are passionate about the recovery and restoration of exploited, destitute and rejected women and children into life in all its fullness. We are best at enabling women and children to reach their full potential through indivualized and long – term holistic care in a nurturing Christian environment”.
They have a tab on their page for donations to help support these woman and children and get them back on their feet. If you don’t feel comfortable just making a straight donation, they have a partnership with a site called ShopInLight.com where their branch called Hagar Design sells handbags and accessories for purchase. I don’t know how the money is distributed, nor how much of each dollar spent goes towards helping these victims, but when I buy a handbag from Macy’s or Target or any other retailer, I know none of those proceeds are going to help this cause. Sometimes I question whether these programs are mishandling funds, but sometimes you just have to step out on faith to make a difference. I believe that God will make sure my hard earned money gets into the right hands. If you find out any other ways of helping these innocent children, I’d like to know.

- Miscellaneous – Anything not mentioned above that goes through my mind and trust me….it’s alot. I have OCD without the C.
So strap on your seatbelts (I’m all about safety)…this could be a bumpy ride.
